No Shoot Trap Shoot Party A Great Time

Trap shooters and friends and family enjoyed a potluck party October 6. It was a beautiful night and a bonfire made the festivities even more enjoyable. The event marked the end of another successful season at the Capital Region Trap League, where Philmont came in third overall.

September 3D Archery Shoot Winners Announced

The final 3D archery shoot was held on Sunday 9/18/11. Sixty-five archers attended and all had a good time.

The 50/50 winner was Lou Jennings from Stockport who shot a standing bear at 72 yards—he won $27.25.

OPEN CLASS: 1st place, Jim Storms from Elizaville, with a score of 298; 2nd place, Robert Taylor from Churchtown with a score of 284; 3rd place, Walter Krajeski from Greenville with a score of 273;

PRGC Trap team takes 3rd Place
David Siter accepts team's 3rd Place award


The Philmont Rod and Gun Club trap shooting team won third place overall in the Capital Region Trap League. Other awards this year include Tom Messina (1st Place, Class C); Doug Cropper (3rd Place, Class C); Bill Morgan, Jr. (3rd Place, Class D). The PRGC Trap Team has a history of excellence. Recent successes include two Presidents Cup wins by Dale Rowe; overall high average by Jay Myers; and seven 1st Place wins in the Ladies Division by Fran Mitchell.

50/50 winner was Paul Bertrand who shot a standing bear at 70 yds; Paul was kind enough to donate the money back to the Archery.

June 3D Archery Shoot Winners Announced

31 Archers were in attendence at the June 26 3D archery shoot.

Mason Willis had the top score for the bowhunters class with a score of 272. Greg Cooke had the top score for Top Gun class with a score of 251. Gerald Whitcomb had the top score for Traditional Class with a score of 213. Eric Delong won the Hole in block 50/50. Lou Jennings won the 50/50 for the long shot standing bear.

60 Young Anglers Participate in 2011 Fishing Derby

The 2011 Fishing Derby was a great day for young anglers. After catching 119 fish from the PRGC pond, the young anglers enjoyed hot dogs and sodas in the club house, followed by awards presented by Club president David Siter. Every angler left the club with a prize and T-Shirt. View pictures of the event here.

Top prize winners all came from the Cub category (up to age 5): The highest total inches caught was awarded to Tyler Graziosi, who accumulated 71 ¼ inches of fish. The largest catch was a 21” bass caught by Alana Graziano. The most fish caught was awarded to Noelle Coons.

Other top prize winners in the Cub category: 1st Place, Nathaniel Coons; 2nd Place, Michael Ferrara; 3rd Place, Login Rowe.

Juniors (ages 6-10): 1st Place, Makayla Bertoldi; 2nd Place, Josh Durant; 3rd Place, Steven Ruggles.

Seniors (ages 11-15): 1st Place, Kelsey Winters; 2nd Place, Eddie Ferratto; 3rd Place, James Charron.

Delicious Food at Club Picnic

2010 Sportsmen's Challenge A Fun Day For All

The Philmont Rod & Gun Club hosted the 5th Annual Sportsmen's Challenge Feb. 21, 2010. This event can best be described as the "iron man" competition involving aspects of the hunting, shooting and fishing sports.
